Available: 15 June – 31 July
Start time: 12:30
Duration: 10 hrs. approximately
Start your day/afternoon with a beautiful Gullfoss and Geysir bus tour with Reykjavík Excursions, that takes you to see the world-famous Geysir geothermal area and Gullfoss, the queen of Icelandic waterfalls, as well as Thingvellir National Park. Free pickup starts at a designated bus stop near your hotel between 12:00-12:30, so make sure to be ready in good time. This is a perfect way to explore the famous sights in a short amount of time. The Geysir geothermal area boasts spouting springs, including Strokkur, the most active geyser in Iceland. At Gullfoss you are given the opportunity to stand next to the amazing waterfall, watching enormous quantities of water tumble violently into a deep, meandering gorge. You will spend your time encountering a cross-section of Iceland’s natural wonders and geological phenomena at Thingvellir National Park, an area of historical and geological significance.
After the bus tour you will be dropped off at Elding’s ticket office where you collect your tickets for the whale watching tour. The 3 hr. Whales in the Midnight Sun tour is a smaller group boat tour with a live troubadour and a romantic scene of the sun setting on the horizon. Regular sightings of Minke whales, dolphins, porpoises and Humpback whales are what make the Faxaflói bay a great whale watching area. After exploring the landscape, views and of course whales, you will be driven back to the bus stop near your hotel.
