Into the Glacier is aware of the Global Warming. In only few decades, most of Earth´s Glaciers will melt due to rising temperatures. Help fight back the Global Warming and carbon neutral your tour and travels in Iceland.
ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
We work with nature. Nature is our work. It is our world.
Into The Glacier recognizes their environmental responsibility and works according to high standards to protect the environment and nature.
RESPECTING NATURE
Into The Glacier recycles all it‘s waste on Langjokull and in their head quarters in Reykjavik and informs and encourages their guests to do the same while travelling in Icelandic nature.
Into The Glacier, in cooperation with the Iceland Carbon Fund – Kolvidur, offers guests going to Langjokull ice tunnels to carbon offset their transportation to and from the tunnels. Guests can take responsibility by donating few dollars for trees that Kolvidur Fund will forest in Husafell area. The objective is to prevent the accumulation of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere.
SAVING THE GLACIER WITH THE ICELAND CARBON FUND
It is important to us at Into The Glacier to preserve the nature and help preventing damage. It is a sad fact that our glaciers are melting due to global warming and Langjokull glacier is shrinking rather rapidly. Calculations tell us that Langjokull glacier, 200.000.000.000 m3 big, sadly will have disappeared in about 80-120 years.
We are working our operations towards eco-friendly as possible and with your help we can do even better. We offer our guests to help us to counteract this development and help save the glacier. We offer our guests to take responsibility of their transportation up to the glacier and back, by carbon offsetting their transportation. You can minimize the carbon footprint of your visit Into The Glacier, and Iceland, by donating ISK 500 – 1.500 (est. USD 4-13) for trees that will be planted in special Kolvidur forest in Husafell area, preserved in order to prevent the accumulation of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere.
THE ICELAND CARBON FUND – KOLVIDUR
Into The Glacier is a dedicated member of the Iceland Carbon Fund. The mission of the Kolvidur Fund is first and foremost to reduce the concentration of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the athmosphere by increasing the carbon sequestration of forest ecosystems and to increase public awareness in regard to greenhouse gas emissions. Success is achieved by making it possible for individual parties to take responsibility for their own emissions and respond to negative effects by tangible means.
The founders of the fund are the Icelandic Forestry Association (Skógræktarfélag Íslands) and the Icelandic Environment Association (Landvernd). The Fund was established with the support of the Government of Iceland.

THE INTO THE GLACIER FORREST PROJECT
Every year Into the Glacier plants around 5000 trees as an effort to minimize the carbon footprint of our daily operations. The Icelandic forestry association nominates an area in need of attention.
Dear guest, we would be honored to plant a tree in your name and together we can help our planet – and glaciers – to cope with our carbon emissions.
