Imagine yourself riding in a Super Jeep on Iceland’s second largest glacier, Langjökull, on your way to go inside the ice! Enjoy a scenic mid-day drive from Reykjavík to the west of Iceland driving through Hvalfjörður (Whalefjord) tunnel to the majestic Hraunfossar and Barnafoss. You will experience the stunning glacier view, feel the rumble of oversized tires crawling along the snowy slopes and finally descend into the ice tunnels deep in the glacier ice cap.
Join us for a Super Jeep adventure to Iceland´s second largest glacier and into the world´s largest man-made ice tunnel.
We will depart from Reykjavik in a Super Jeep that picks you up at your hotel or guesthouse. The Super Jeep then heads to Langjokull, Iceland‘s second biggest glacier and the only place where you can explore an ice cap from the inside.
On the way to the glacier, we will stop at the scenic Hraunfossar waterfalls. There you will witness the water run through hardened lava fields that formed during a volcanic eruption age ago.
At Húsafell we will make a lunch stop at Hotel Husafell or Húsafell Bistro before we continue to the glacier.
Our main destination, the ice tunnel, is located at 1250 meters above sea level and the Super Jeep will take you right to the entrance! The ice tunnel reaches about 300 meters Into the glacier ice and 40 meters below the surface. An experienced guide will walk you through the majestic world of the glacier and give an informative lecture on glaciers in Iceland. The guided tour inside takes around one hour.
After the ice cave tour, the Super Jeep drive continues to Krauma, a beautiful spa, and restaurant located in the countryside of Deildartunga. You can relax and unwind in the hot geothermal pools that comes from Deildartunguhver.
It is the highest-flow hot spring in Europe and can pump up 180 liters of water per second!
After bathing in the warm water under the bare skies you can dine the amazing food at Krauma (food and drinks are not included). We then continue our journey and the driver guide will keep an eye out for Northern Lights activity while on our way back to Reykjavík.
Please be advised that the Northern lights are a natural phenomenon and sightings can not be guaranteed. Northern Lights season runs from mid-September to April.
